What a nation looks like under the wrath of God

Is America under the wrath of God?  I think it is.

I might be wrong and loathe being presumptuous against God’s nature, intentions and will.  If I’m wrong, and those who argue that God loves America and this is why Americans continue being “blessed beyond measure” are correct, I don’t want to be known as a false teacher.

The reasons why I believe that America is under the wrath of God could fill a 400 page book without exhausting my evidence; I would just be “getting going,” so to speak.

One of the reasons I believe America is under the wrath of God is because this country is going backwards instead of forwards in many areas.

For example—and this might seem trivial, but I believe it speaks volumes and helps lay a foundation for my premise—the inane fixation that government has on outlawing certain restaurant items they consider harmful to the environment…like plastic drinking straws.  Yes, drinking straws, the almost necessary items we all use to enjoy drinks.

You might be laughing, shaking your head and muttering, “The guy writing this post needs to get a hobby; he has far too much time on his hands.”  Please read on, but first read this article.

There may be legitimate reasons why the government wishes to outlaw the common plastic drinking straw.  No doubt they clog up landfills and are responsible for untold amounts of money damages due to the havoc they wreck on plumbing pipes when they are carelessly flushed down toilets.  I understand this.

But why target an item that all of us use and enjoy countless number of times every single day?   An argument can be made that these straws are almost essential to drinking cups filled with soft drinks (another target of government’s wrath, but this is for another post), especially if those cups are filled with ice cubes.  How else is someone able to easily drink out of such a cup without picking it up and throwing your head back with the very real risk of accidentally choking on a piece of ice?

With this latest government law forcing fast food places and other restaurants to get rid of their straws, customers are being penalized and our dining experience is being lessened, becoming more of an irritant than a pleasure.

My second piece of evidence for America traveling backwards instead of forward is what is happening to the airline industry with their new “pet friendly”  and so-called “emotional support animal” policies.

This is a problem with multiple lines of abuse streaming into the situation, all adding up to a disaster in the making.  To mention one:  we all understand and are sympathetic to an individual with an actual need for a service animal, like a blind person (a real blind person and not simply one who has problems seeing) who has a trained, seeing-eye dog.   Nobody would complain about this person needing to have this animal on the plane.

But what always happens in cases like these, when the government steps in and begins to mandate laws, adding to the list of “service animals”?   Soon, we have new categories—emotional support animals, for example—that includes all kinds of pets:  fish, birds, cats, ducks, hamsters, ferrets, etc.

Then, human nature being what it is—, lawless, selfish and self-centered to the core—pet owners who worship their animals see they can now travel with their pets on airplanes for free…as long as their pets are “emotional support animals.”  And any number of websites will provide you all the necessary documentation for the required “fee.”

But no one likes your pet as much as you do.  You may think that chihuahua you are holding on your lap is the cutest, most lovable thing in the universe, but I don’t.  And I don’t want to sit next to a smelly, defecating, urinating, salivating, barking, shedding animal next to me for the next four hours while I pick out its dog hair out of my Coke.

And I shouldn’t have to, and neither should anyone else.  And for almost a hundred years, air travelers never had to worry about this nonsense until a few years ago; now, it is turning the ever increasing stressful air travel industry into an even more stressful and miserable situation.

These two examples are just the tip of the proverbial iceberg proving that we, the people of the United States of America, are going backwards in countless situations than surging forward, evidence to support my assertion that America is under the wrath of God.
